Unilever buys Greek ice cream manufacturer
Tuesday September 28 2010
UNILEVER is to buy EVGA, the Greek ice cream manufacturer, for an undisclosed sum, and subject to approval by the regulators. EVGA's ice cream turnover in 2009 was EUR32 million.
Under the terms of the deal, Unilever will acquire EVGA's ice cream brands (Scandal, Variete, Karabola and others) as well as its distribution network. EVGA will retain its existing production and warehousing facilities and will make both the present EVGA range and some Unilever ice cream branded products for the Greek market and for export. As part of the agreement, some 65 EVGA employees will transfer to Unilever.
